Yellow Umbrella 10km Fun Run

Many congratulations to the team of twelve Park Club runners who completed the Runbrella race, a 10km charity event last Sunday 19th September. The team did exceptionally well with everyone finishing in under an hour.

After a stretch and limber up together, an enthusiastic martial arts instructor pumped up his music and took us through a warm up of punches and kicks, working us all into a good sweat before the run had even started!

A sprint to the start line and the whistle blew. The course took us across Kew bridge, on to Chiswick and back over Barnes bridge. Everyone ran at their own pace, some in pairs, others got into their ‘zone’ alone. For several members, it was their first ever official 10km run so should be especially proud of their achievement.

The day raised funds for three local children’s charities: The Kids’ Cookery School, The Log Cabin and The Shooting Stars Children’s Hospice.

It was great to see everyone buzzing after their run and I hope it spurred people on to either start, continue or push their training to a new level. We hope to organise another 10km run before too long and maybe even a half marathon next year!

If you're interested in taking part in a fun run, or similar, please do talk to one myslef or any of my team in the gymnasium and we'd be delighted to guide you through your training.
