Cookie Girl at The Park Club

It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than 5yrs since I last wrote my ‘Cookie Chronicles’ column for Grove magazine. Now that I am beginning to feel the post baby fog lifting I’ve been thinking that it would be fun to start it again. So it seemed like perfect timing when The Park Club got in touch and invited me to reinstate it on their blog. So here I am! This is my monthly opportunity to let you know what is going on in the world of Cookie Girl!

When I stopped writing my column in 2010 I had just written a bestselling recipe book. My cookies and cupcakes were being sold in Selfridges nationwide and I’d had millions of views on my YouTube tutorials (back when that was a lot!). I was being featured as the next big thing in all the glossies and weekend supplements. My business, teaching cupcake decorating team events, classes and hen parties was hugely successful. I was slim and fit and had a pretty fabulous life. Then I got pregnant. Since then a lot has changed.

I now have two little girls aged 3 and 5. Cosy and Teddy are amazing they are constantly entertaining and incessantly demanding. And I love them with all my heart. But wow. My life is un-recognisable. Things I used to take for granted are now my great luxuries. Like sleep. I just can’t seem to get enough of it. No matter how hard I try.

And working out. Although it can be hard to feel motivated when it’s a gloomy day and the rain is lashing down. The last thing I feel like doing is going out for a run .That’s why I’m so lucky to have the Park Club. Somewhere I can escape to and have some ‘me’ time. Even on the days that the little one is at home with me I can go and work out whilst she plays in the creche- which she adores. There are so many different classes and activities on offer that I’ve finally started shifting my ‘baby weight’ (I do feel once your youngest child is 3 that you need to consider whether you are going to shift it or carry it FOR EVER!)
