MAJOR NEW DEVELOPMENTS AT THE PARK CLUB
It is now fifteen years since we opened the Park Club. In recent years we have invested heavily in our seasonal sports dome, a complete upgrade of the gymnasium and its equipment, as well as the new Medispa. However, times have moved on and we feel now it is the time for a major improvement in our infrastructure, with particular emphasis on adult spa and relaxation, combined with sports provision.
We are now in the process of submitting a Planning Application to increase the size of the main building by 35% to incorporate the following facilities:
- New, larger changing rooms, including family specific areas.
- New studios.
- New luxurious wet facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, steam baths and relaxation areas.
- A complete overhaul of our restaurants.
- A complete new top floor, giving us the opportunity to incorporate many new areas which would benefit from natural light and retractable roofs, such as studios, therapy rooms and adult only dining for example.
- A 50m outdoor pool.
The vagaries of British weather have probably been the primary reason why we are so awful at two of our national sports and, at last, the Football Association have firmly come down behind high quality all-weather pitches for the development of football. Premier League Rugby is also played on synthetic pitches. As a result of this recognition we plan to lay a cricket pitch sized area of the latest 3G Astro-turf over at the Shepherd's Bush side of the site, as well as a new pavilion. It is hoped we can gain consent for this to be flood-lit, to allow use until 10pm. If we are successful in our Application we will be able to deliver the very best coaching and play for football, rugby, cricket, tennis, hockey, boxing, karate and gymnastics amongst others. For the avoidance of doubt, I'm referring to football and cricket as the embarrassments, not rugby, but we do have an upcoming opportunity to fail at that too!
Disruption to your enjoyment of the Club will be high up in your list of concerns, so it is planned to utilise a phased approach to the works, to deliver brand new areas before old ones are refurbished, so the Member will never experience a net loss of facilities. For example we plan to open the new 50m pool before any other works commence. Incidentally' this would be the only 50m pool in a Members Club in the UK, to our knowledge.
Our Application is due to be submitted within the next month and from then on we are in the hands of Ealing Council. On this basis we can only speculate to timeframes for these developments, but we will, of course, update you in the progress of our efforts.
