Football for Young Members
Football activities are offered throughout the year to cater specifically for boys and girls. Women’s football is becoming increasingly popular across the UK, and fully qualified male and female instructors will ensure all participants are afforded the best opportunity to develop their talent during their courses. Football activities are broadly divided in to two categories: Term Time activities and Holiday Camps.
Term Time Football Activities
These six-week courses are designed to run within spring, summer and autumn school terms divided by half term holidays. The following activities are available during these times.
Courses for children aged 3 to 5
Our pre-school programme aims to give younger children, from 3 through to 5 years old, their first taste of football and a whole lot more. Using the greatest game on earth – football – we introduces children to real sports skills and help them develop their natural love of being active. For more information on our pre-school courses please speak to the crèche or see their notice board.
Courses for children aged 4 to 5
Courses for the younger children, aged 4 and 5 years of age, focus on an early development of the core football skills that will result in a long and enjoyable involvement in football. It will also help to develop their coordination, balance and team – working skills generally.
Courses for children aged 6 to 7
Courses for the elder children, aged 6 to 10 years of age, offer a chance to further develop the skills learned in the earlier course to a more accomplished level. In addition to this, greater emphasis is placed on tactical awareness, sportsmanship and a good understanding of the rules of the game.
Courses for children aged 8 to 9 and 10 to 16
Courses for children, aged 8 to 9 years of age, see the continued emphasis on development of all areas of the game, ensuring that the core skills involved in football become habitual for all children involved in football at The Park Club. When numbers permit coaching of the 10 – 16 yr olds will emphasise the transition from small-sided football to the full size game.
TPC Football Advanced Training Programme Age 6 to 11
The Park Club have been working with Brentford Football Club Community Sports Trust in setting up our ATP. This class is strictly by invitation only and once an invite has been accepted players must ensure regular attendance, attitude and application to ensure they keep their place. This class has seen the players expand on their experience and they have been off-site to take part in several matches organised by Brentford FC Community Sports Trust. To date we have had several players who have been selected for the Brentford academy whom came from the classes here at TPC. We have expanded our ATP programme for Autumn 09 and now have classes for 10 – 11yr olds on a Monday. For more information please contact Pat Fisher on when the next trial dates will be held.
Holiday Camp Football Activities for Children Aged 5 to 16
During school holidays, week long Football Camps are available for all young members to enjoy. The Club’s Football Camps are unique as they are run in conjunction with Brentford Football Club as part of their Community Sports Trust. Brentford coaches regularly invite Park Club members to try out for their Advanced Training Programme that offers a possible pathway into The Centre of Excellence. The Park Club boasts four junior members who are currently involved in the A.T.P. programme.
All of the coaches are fully F.A. qualified and C.R.B. checked. They offer an insight into how training is structured to help them improve as players in a fun environment and professional style to ensure that all children taking part in the all-day camps go home totally fulfilled with their days activity.
In addition to this, the end of week tournament allows the participants to show off the skills they have learned throughout the week and put themselves in contention to win The Player of The Week Trophy. Football Camps are available for boys and girls from the age of 5 and can be booked on a daily basis or for the whole week. Children aged 4 should try the creche which offers the perfect environment for this age group. Alternatively the football camp runs a mini football camp from 12.00 to 13.00 daily when football camps are running.
Holiday Camps afford parents the added flexibility of being able to leave their children at the Club for a day or the whole week if they prefer. An early drop-off and late collection service is also available.
