Junior Cricket

The Park Club are proud to be able to offer some of the finest cricket facilities for Club members of all ages including 2 ECB regulation size cricket pitches as well as practice nets. These combined with our excellent cricket coaches, The Park Club's association with Acton Cricket Club and the occasional support of ex-international players ensure we are able to offer both child and adult members (link to for you cricket section) excellent opportunities to enjoy this wonderful game.

Cricket for Young Members

Cricket activities are offered throughout the year to cater specifically for boys and girls. Cricket activities are broadly divided in to Term Time activities and Holiday Camps.

Term Time Cricket Activities

These six-week courses are designed to run within Spring, Summer and Autumn school terms divided by half term holidays. The following activities are available during these times.

Term Time Cricket Courses for Children Aged 4 to 9

Courses for the younger children, aged 4 and 5 years of age, focus on an early development of the core cricket skills, which will result in a long and enjoyable involvement in the game. It will also help to develop their coordination, balance and team - working skills generally.

Courses for the elder children, aged 6 to 9 years of age, offer a chance to further develop the skills learned in the earlier course to a more accomplished level. Greater emphasis is placed on tactical awareness, sportsmanship and a good understanding of the rules of the game.

After the age of 9 children are invited to attend colts training which is run by our very own ACC here at The Park Club.

Colts Cricket for Children Aged 10 +

The Park Club is fortunate to have their very own cricket team playing out of the club; in 2004 their 1st XI won the Middlesex Championship! Acton Cricket Club (ACC) runs the Colts cricket at The Park Club. Here the children continue to improve their ability in weekly training sessions under the professional eye of ACC. The Colts currently have sides at U11, U13, U15, and U17; all of these teams play in junior leagues. The Colts have also helped two juniors progress into county cricket at a junior level. For more information about 2007 registration and training times please contact Pat Fisher on 0208 743 4321, or email patf@theparkclub.co.uk

Holiday Camp Cricket Activities for Children Aged 5 to 16

During school holidays, week long Cricket Camps are often available for all young members to enjoy. The Club's Cricket Camps are unique as they are run in conjunction with ACC and typically involve a guest appearance from an ex-professional player.

All of the coaches are fully qualified and they offer a wonderfully fun and professional style to ensure that all children taking part in the all-day camps go home totally fulfilled with their days activity.

Cricket Camps are available for boys and girls and can be booked on a daily basis or for the whole week. Holiday Camps afford parents the added flexibility of being able to leave their children at the Club for the whole day or the whole week if they prefer. An early drop-off and late collection service is also available.

Frequently Asked Questions about Cricket Courses and Camps

What equipment do children need to bring?
All equipment is provided by the Club.

What should they wear?

Cricket trainers are ideal however a solid pair of outdoor shoes is a satisfactory compromise. If children do wish to wear cricket trainers please bring these separately as it is not suitable to walk through the Club in this type of footwear.

Children should wear clothing suitable for outdoor sport and ideally cricket whites, if these are not available then shorts / tracksuit and t-shirt are acceptable. Classes do continue when the weather is poor so warm and / or weatherproof clothing is advisable. When the sun is strong sun-cream and a cap / hat are recommended.

For the safety of the children, where applicable, The Park Club will provide all safety equipment. Younger children are not exposed to the normal dangers of cricket largely due to the difference in equipment used.
