Shane HurstShane Hurst - Head Tennis Coach

Tennis has been a big part of Shane's life for as long as he can remember. He started playing when he was three and won his first tournament at the age of five. He was highly ranked throughout his junior years which paved the way for a scholarship to John Newcombes tennis academy in the USA. From there he went on to play top level collegiate tennis at a NCAA Div 1 university and then started on the ATP circuit where he acquired a career ending injury, which is when his coaching career begun.

Over the last 15 years he has been using his knowledge and business skills to transform The Park Club into one of the leading tennis clubs in West London. As of 2016 we have over 1000 active tennis members and 21 teams competing in the Middlesex leagues. With around 12 coaches and assistants the programme is still expanding and improving. The Park Club has now become one of the leading tennis clubs in west London.

Shane is an incredibly experienced Tennis player with a wide knowledge of the game, garnered from playing with the best whilst travelling through America, Germany and Portugal. He has played & coached with John McEnroe, Pat Rafter and John Newcombe to name but a few.

 Bridie LynchBridie Lynch - Assistant Head Coach

Bridie has been a Level 4 coach for the last 12 years and has relished working at The Park Club for over 4 years. Bridie’s success at the Park Club has most recently been acknowledged with her promotion to the role of Assistant Head Coach.

As a junior Bridie competed at a very high level, from representing Wales and winning the Junior Welsh 18u doubles to representing her county at both Junior and Senior levels. Bridie’s highest national ranking within the ladies senior circuit was a career high of *2. 

Since being at The Park Club Bridie has taken over the captain’s role for the Ladies 1st team. Guiding them from Division 2 to the Premier League in four consecutive years. Making the Park Club Ladies 1st the first team to ever compete in the premier league.

Bridie coaches a wide range of age’s, working with all levels of experience, from beginners to performance in both juniors and adults. In 2007 her coaching received international recognition as she successfully coached Great Britons Lucy Pethig to Two Olympic silver medals at the Special Olympics. 

Bridie’s coaching process is totally dedicated to allowing each player fully reach their potential. Her enthusiastic, energetic and calming approach enables each player to flourish yet always be challenged to be the best they can be. Her contagious passion for the game along with her loyal and considerate nature means you can not only find Bridie on the court but also on the sidelines supporting all the teams. 

Bob HydeBob Hyde

Bob has over 30 years of Tennis coaching and playing experience and is a Level 4 CCA Licensed coach. He is also a PTR Professional grade and has a RPT national qualification. 

He is a member of the Acton Cricket & Tennis Club where he played tennis, cricket and football.   In his mid twenties,  he took his first tennis coaching qualification, initially to improve his own game.  His passion for the game grew and he became a part time coach at Acton.  He has travelled and was Head Coach at Palm Beach Club in Turkey and is currently a visiting pro at The Coral Reef Club in Barbados.  

He is always trying to improve his coaching and playing level and represented Wales at Veterans County level and achieved a level 4 LTA qualification in 2006. 

He has been a Park Club Coach for 16 years,  with Junior groups on Thursdays Saturdays and Sundays, encouraging sound technique and fun. He organises and plays in Adult group Social Tennis on Fridays & Sundays and is available for private sessions Thursday to Sunday. 

He uses a graduated progression method to produce a bio mechanically natural swing with a balanced footwork. He understands what it's like to develop a topspin backhand when you have only used slice, or to turn a push serve into a throwing action.  His coaching philosophy is to get his pupils to be able to play to their full potential.

George Welsh

 George Welsh

Geore has been a coach at The Park Club for over two years but has over ten years coaching experience. His specialities are helping players progress and reach their goals, improving their physical performance and mental attitude towards the sport.

He has worked in several tennis clubs around the country and abroad, which has provided him with a wide range of coaching skills and knowledge of various coaching styles and techniques, which he applies to his coaching at The Park Club. From 2012-2014 he coached Junior International Ranking Tournaments in Wellington, New Zealand and went on to be a the head coah of a local team delivering a coaching program focused primarily on development tennis, helping improve beginner and intermediate juniors and adults.

Some of his achievements include: Representing the county of Middlesex from the ages of 14 to 16 and won the under 16’s County cup. Competing twice at the finals of the National Road to Wimbledon tournament. Playing in the Men’s first Team for the University of Southampton, then going on to competing in the top division for the South West. He still enjoys playing competatively and hopes to do so far into the future.  

Al Hill

Al Hill

Al Hill is a professional LTA Tennis Coach with over 14 years’ experience developing and improving adult and junior beginner and experience tennis players. Al’s coaching career includes a five-year membership of the elite coaching squad at the Westway Tennis Centre, followed by an invitation to be head coach at the Virgin Health Club Fulham, lasting nine years.

Al played as a member of the Campden Hill Lawn Tennis Club where he won the men’s doubles tournament and played for Middlesex. He continues to improve his experience through attending international yearly workshops and tennis conferences produced by USPTR, LTA British Tennis, APT and Modern Tennis International.

Al is an avid sportsman enjoying golf, swimming, windsurfing and downhill skiing.  He was born in Denver, Colorado and gained a BA Honours Degree at Central School or Art and Design in London where he still lives with his wife Caroline and three children.
