THE PARK CLUB EXCHANGES CONTRACT WITH DAVID LLOYD CLUBS; FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To assist members with the significant news, that The Park Club have entered into a commercial agreement with David Lloyd Clubs, we've created an FAQs document that will help answer some of your questions.

1. Why has the The Park Club entered into a commercial agreement with David Lloyd Clubs?

Ever since we have acquired The Park Club site back in 1997, interested parties have approached the owners seeking to purchase The Park Club for their own use. Throughout this period the owners have resisted, wishing to keep the Club family owned. 3 Keys factors have led to a change in this view:

i. David Lloyd are extremely well positioned in the UK health and fitness racquets sector to provide the level of investment required for a site of The Park Club’s magnitude

ii. David Lloyd have promised to provide a wide range of world-class facilities, whilst retaining the existing character of the popular club.

iii. The owners now have their own growing families to concentrate their energies on.

2. Will David Lloyd be investing in The Park Club?

Yes, they have promised to invest £8 million and transform The Park Club now into a David Lloyd Club, opening in April 2018.

3. Does the Park Club have to close?

The club will be closed for a number of months. The Park Club and David Lloyd have looked at many ways to keep the club open while the work takes place, but unfortunately, such is the scale of the works, it’s just not possible, particularly from a health and safety perspective. On this basis the club will be closing on 15th July 2017 and re-open at the beginning of April 2018.

4. Will any of the outdoor space remain open when the club closes?

Whilst the main Club will close, Club des Sports, which remains under the management of The Park Club and The Hogarth Group will continue to operate.

5. What is happening to the team at The Park Club?

The Park Club and David Lloyd Leisure will use all reasonable endeavours to ensure staff jobs are retained either at CdS, HHC or other DLL Clubs, wherever possible.
