HIIT circuit classes utilise a variety of floor exercises and weight training exercises to increase stamina, strength and cardiovascular fitness. Let the instructor take you on a different exercise journey each week! Participants can vary the intensity to suit their fitness level and needs.

Here at The Park Club, our circuit training incorporates several stations into several bursts of high intensity exercise, allowing you to target all minor and major muscle groups in a short period of time to avoid the possibility of any muscular imbalances whilst also providing a great aerobic and anaerobic, calorie-destroying workout, achieving an increase in lean muscles mass and decrease in body fat.

Benefits of HIIT classes

Circuit training reaps many health benefits including the development of strength, endurance, flexibility and coordination. It is one of the few methods of fitness training that is able to effectively improve both strength and cardiovascular fitness in the same exercise session.

The science behind the HIIT

Several respected studies have revealed that High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) (including Circuit training) sends your metabolism sky-high and allows you to burn more calories in 20 minutes of circuits than an hour on traditional cardio machines. And due to a phenomenon known as the ‘after-burn effect’ if combined with a healthy diet your body will be burning calories for up to 2 days after your workout.

Circuit training isn’t just used to blast hundreds of calories, but also has studies supporting claims that it can boost stability and improve balance as well. Strength drills used in a circuits session, such as push-ups and lunges, uses several different sets of joints. When this happens, your body works harder and increases musculoskeletal fitness. The moderate resistance training exercises included in circuit training keeps tendons and ligaments supple and strong, reducing the risk of injuries such as ACL tears.
